Politics and Advocacy Analyst

New York, United States Full-time

We are a leading data analytics company that services some of the largest political, advocacy, and commercial organizations in the country. Applecart has led polling, targeting, and analytics efforts for Presidential campaigns, major ballot initiatives, Congressional races and campaigns at every level of the ballot. In order to help organizations that don’t often have the benefit of a large grassroots following or clear demographic coalitions on their side, we developed the Social Graph -- a database that identifies more than 17 billion social relationships between over 250 million Americans. We have developed a series of proprietary data products that use the Social Graph to help various candidates, causes, and companies counterbalance their opposition through innovative targeting, polling, and voter mobilization tools.

About the Role

As a Data Analyst on our Politics and Advocacy team, you will meaningfully contribute to polling, targeting, and analytics efforts on behalf of some of the country’s most prominent political campaigns, independent expenditure efforts, trade associations, and corporations. In this role you would sit at the nexus of big data, polling, and microtargeting, and deliver individual-level targeting recommendations in report and raw dataset form. You would work with a talented team of political strategists, data scientists, and data analysts who, together, impact elections and policy outcomes for Applecart’s high profile clients. This position reports to the VP of Analytics.

What You’ll Do

  • Work quickly and fluently in SQL to assess, ingest, and transform raw datasets into digestible analytics reports
  • Partner with data scientists to build predictive models using Applecart’s social graph, demographic, and political behavior datasets
  • Collaborate with political strategists and other data analysts to translate findings from data analysis into reports that are digestible for non-technical, client audiences
  • Build audiences for targeting with specific campaign messaging that will drive maximum ROI with limited campaign resources
  • Problem-solve creatively to provide ongoing support to campaigns on tight timelines
  • Perform quality assurance on large datasets and resulting analyses
  • Directly impact product development by providing feedback on existing Applecart infrastructure, prototyping new solutions to client problems, and analyzing new datasets
