Technical Product Manager, Social Graph

Applecart seeks a motivated product manager to serve our political campaign clients. Applecart deploys proprietary technology that powers political campaigns, advocacy groups, and corporations that are serious about winning. We work with some of the nation’s most prominent political groups, corporations, and non-profit organizations to activate and communicate with key target audiences at cutting-edge scale and efficiency. Our core offering is a proprietary social graph that leverages publicly-available data to map real-world relationships between individuals at national scale to help our clients identify, persuade, mobilize, and fundraise with unparalleled efficacy.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a subject matter expert on goals, challenges, wants and needs of internal social graph users alongside existing and potential future clients.
  • Define, monitor and improve social graph metrics that are aligned with business objectives.
  • Create hypotheses, gather appropriate data sources and analyze implementation feasibility with engineering & data science.
  • Build out specifications and roadmaps for graph improvements around business vertical needs in politics, advocacy, commercial and beyond.
  • Manage sprints, delivery timelines and cost benefit analysis.
  • Anticipating bottlenecks, providing escalation management, making tradeoffs, and balancing the business needs versus technical or operational constraints

Requirements:

  • 2+ years in product management role or 4+ technical consulting roles.
  • Strong track record of analyzing user needs and formulating clear and concise technical requirements for engineering and/or data science teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain lasting cross-functional working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to produce non-production Python code and SQL queries for prototyping and ad-hoc investigations.
  • Superb skills in taking complex, uncertainty-laden problems and distilling them into elegant and straightforward solutions, as well as articulating this process to project stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply value driven thinking in steering feature sets for technically sophisticated products and tools, including ability to create and track technical and business metrics.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products, leading the effort on quality assurance through analysis and process.
  • Up to date and thorough understanding of technology landscape.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or an equivalent technical degree.
  • Startup experience.
  • High level understanding of distributed computing technologies such as Spark.
  • Informal understanding of data science concepts such as classification models, clustering and optimization problems.
  • Subject matter expertise in political science, advertising technology, social networks or marketing.
