The Role:

We seek a motivated Data Analyst to work with our political and advocacy clients. As a Data Analyst on our Public Affairs team, you will help optimize message spending and operations by identifying, persuading, and mobilizing targets with unparalleled efficacy—thereby directly impacting elections and policy outcomes for Applecart’s high profile advocacy, political campaign, and Super PAC clients.


  • Work collaboratively with a team of analysts, strategists and data scientists to produce custom analyses, reporting materials, and data visualizations for clients and internal team members
  • Work quickly and fluently in SQL to assess, ingest, and transform raw datasets into client-ready analytics reports
  • Wrangle large structured and unstructured datasets
  • Conduct analytics on Applecart’s social graph, demographic, and political behavior datasets
  • Problem-solve creatively to deliver data-driven solutions and insights to client challenges on tight timelines
  • Performing quality assurance checks on large datasets and resulting analyses
  • Identify problems, small and large, and proactively working to solve them
  • Translate data sets, models, and technical concepts into actionable, client-friendly deliverables

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of work experience in data analysis
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience and success at managing multiple tight timelines while maintaining a cool confidence
  • Outstanding attention to detail that means taking the quality of work personally
  • Strong interest in or passion for politics, the legislative process, technology, data analytics, and data science
  • Demonstrated strong written communication skills
  • Experience producing intuitive, client-ready data visualizations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working in advocacy, public affairs, political campaigns, advertising, public policy, or government
  • History of being a self-starter
  • Experience with Python
